Island Biodiversity Conservation

Inijakan island is a small island off the coast of Eastern Mindanao, situated just south of Siargao and Socorro. For three generations the Hotchkiss family has actively worked to preserve its unique biota and resources. With over 30 species of birds and many other Philippine endemic wildlife, Inijakan island is a special place for biodiversity in the archipelago. Currently, the Hotchkiss Foundation is working to establish baseline surveys for terrestrial wildlife, designate the surrounding waters as a Marine Protected Area, and teach local youth about the environment through the Ecoscouting program.
